12th International Conference of the Hellenic Geographical Association, ICHGS - 2019
"I N N O V A T I V E G E O G R A P H I E S: M a p p i n g a n d M o d e l i n g o u r W o r l d"
The Hellenic Geographical Society (HGS) is a national organization that, promotes the exchange of knowledge, theory, methods and technologies and their applications to the analysis and planning of cities, regions and their environment across the globe. HGS represents the interests of geographers in Greece (Hellas), and is a member of the European Association of Geographers (EuroGEO), and the International Geographical Union (IGU) which service the needs of geographers throughout Europe and the world, respectively.
Our conference is structured around a number of thematically-focused sessions during which geographers present their work. The typical format involves four consecutive 20-minute scholarly presentations, followed by comments and critique offered by the appointed discussant, and questions and answers from the audience. This year, we are enriching the scientific discussion by inviting young researchers of various disciplines related to geography (Geograφistas) to submit abstracts of their own research work, organize their sessions and actually have their own conference within the conference.
Abstract Submission is now open! All accepted and registered papers shall be published in the European Journal of Geography which is abstracted and indexed in Scopus. Templates and guidelines may be found here.
The conference also incorporates discussion panels on timely topics of Geography. We will offer the opportunity to participate in one of several workshops and tutorials on cutting-edge topics of Geography. All paper presenters are expected to have a manuscript (even in draft form) available to share with the appointed discussant 2-3 weeks before the conference. An abstract must be submitted by the stated deadline for a presentation to be accepted, but a manuscript is not necessary at this time. All conference participants agree to serve as discussants of a conference paper, if appointed to do so by the Conference Program Committee. Some participants will also be invited to serve as session chairs. We are once again offering a poster session option on a voluntary basis. The organized sessions will involve active presentations. At this time, the number of posters that can be accommodated will be limited to 24. Click here for more information about the poster session option.
The Hellenic Geogphical Society Conference offers a prime venue for several groups of scholars. Please click on the links on the Conference drop-down menu at the top of this page to learn more about the conference.
